HISTORY

Dr. J.A. Akintobi Science Education Foundation Inc. was established in 2016 as a tax exempt educational charity 501c (3) by his 3 surviving children and one of his mentees following his death on October 1, 2015. The foundation was established to honor his lifelong passion for Science Education in Nigeria. J.A. Akintobi was a Science and Math educator for over 60 years in Nigeria, spanning primary through university level, teaching students and mentoring students and faculty. The Dr. J. A. Education Foundation collaborates with the EGBA Science Education Foundation established in 2002. This collaboration started in late 2015 with many of the 300 student graduates of the remedial program progressing to institutions of higher learning and universities on merit across Nigeria.

STRATEGY

The Dr. J.A. Akintobi Science Education Foundation collaborates with the Egba Science Education foundation in organizing an annual full scholarship remedial program to fifty competitively identified public high school senior students. These students are provided supplementary teaching classes in English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology with practical science laboratory work in their preparation for the West African Examination Council (WAEC) and the Joint Admissions Matriculation Board (JAMB) examinations.

Students are engaged from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. (Monday through Friday) between August and March annually at a designated location.
All Students are engaged in practical classes on Saturday starting from the first Saturday in January running through March between 9 a.m. to 12 noon weekly.
Students are released at the end of March to enable them to prepare for their JAMB and WAEC examination, slated for April through June.
